We have several opportunities available at our East Syracuse location. 

We are hiring for four (4) part-time or full-time summer seasonal hires with hires starting as soon as possible.

We are also hiring for multiple full-time, permanent technicians in our XRD and Gas Chromatography departments.

Our East Syracuse, NY laboratory is looking for an entry-level Laboratory Technicians ! The Laboratory Technician I will prepare samples with accuracy and precision in accordance to SGS' analytical SOPs. The Laboratory Technician I works independently and as part of a team to meet daily production targets and ensure hold times and turnaround times are met. The Laboratory Technician I ensures best quality through adherence to all policies, procedures, and quality verifications. The Laboratory Technician I always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

• After appropriate training, independently prepares samples for analysis according to SGS’ SOPs, using basic instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
• Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration of preparation instruments/equipment.
• May assist with validation and MDL studies.
• Inputs and maintains technical information, as needed, to support the laboratory functions/operations.
• May conduct non-interpretive sample analysis and draft analytical reports.
• Maintains Laboratory Notebook where applicable.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs all required quality verifications, ensuring best quality.
• Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and consumables, ensuring appropriate levels, at all times.
• Ensures all chemicals are labelled appropriately, required personal protective equipment is worn consistently, and all safety precautions are followed.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and prior general working experience (Required)
• Associates Degree in a Chemistry or similar scientific discipline and 1-2 years of relevant laboratory experience (Preferred)
• Proficient English language skills (Required)
• Basic mathematical and reasoning skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)

This position pays $20-21/hr  (dependent on experience) and is eligible for overtime.

In addition, your compensation package includes the following benefits:
